ITIC Teacher Card

An international ITIC teacher card is valid for a person who, within the meaning of the Education Act, performs pedagogical work in an educational institution licensed by the Ministry of Education and Research or in a licensed care institution for at least 18 hours per week or full-time during the academic year. and other pedagogical work. Teachers in small schools with a workload of less than 18 hours per week but assigned full-time are also able to apply for an ITIC card. More detailed conditions are set out in the procedure for issuing an ITIC teacher card.

An educator on parental leave, as well as the head of an educational institution, has the right to apply for an ITIC teacher card. The workload of pedagogical work can also be met after teaching in several educational institutions (in this case the applicant can choose which school name is printed on the card). The load of pedagogical work is assessed by the head of the educational institution.

The data of educators on parental leave are not available in the Estonian Education Information System, therefore in order to apply for a card, a confirmation must be sent to the e-mail info@minukool.ee from the educational institution that the teacher is on parental leave. The confirmation must have the person’s name and personal identification code and must not be older than 1 month. After sending the confirmation, the teacher will be given the necessary teacher status to apply for the card, after which it is possible to submit the application.

In the case of teachers of hobby schools, it is not possible to add the workload of the Estonian Education Information System, therefore the teacher of the hobby school must send a confirmation to the e-mail info@minukool.ee confirming that he has at least 18 hours of pedagogical work per week. The confirmation must have the person’s name and personal identification code and must not be older than 1 month. After sending the confirmation, the teacher status required to apply for the card will be added to the system teacher, after which it is possible to submit the application.
